The U.S. military is a racist institution, an
unnecessary detriment to our wallets, and an extension of one of the most
purely asinine policies of all of modern government. I don’t want the military
to not exist; I want the current
U.S. military to cease existence. Among my reasons why are some mind-boggling
distinctions between those two things.
Always, without exception, the military is one of
the biggest components of citizen’s taxes. The recent “reward”: two decades spent in the Middle East
intercepting non-existent nuclear weapons, the hatred that causes terrorism has
been fueled, and cultures have been persistently and literally “shit-on”
through the promotion of American exceptionalism. I have seen televised videos of
soldiers urinating and shitting on the bodies of dead, non-combatant members of
other countries. This is not okay. This is gross. This is under the
“Disturbing” thread of videos that Devansh sees on Reddit.
Now I have a few questions…
First, is it necessary to spend 6x as much money on
our military as the rest of the world combined? No, I can promise at most 2x
would suffice. The world wouldn’t break into chaos, regional strife wouldn’t escalate,
and our “evil allies” wouldn’t overthrow us. We need to get of the mindset that
we are the “global police” – the modern geopolitical climate cannot allow that.
It is economically unsustainable, counter-productive, and most importantly
unnecessary. Britain is the biggest advocate of the United Nations for peace,
Russia is rational as proven by the cold war, China would never want to go to
war because of the economic risk, and India and Pakistan have avoided conflict
for a couple thousand years now. This ISN’T Sparta, nobody wants war, in a
world of multipolarity where nations worked together, it would be smooth
sailing. But a key point here – Homeland Security, right on. Aggressive
deployment.. please no.
I’d like to debate one of the pundits in congress, I
really really would. Why are they the people ruling the world?
My next question – if the motivation isn’t to
prevent war, then why should we proactively try to spread the American culture?
Let people in Turkey do what they want; let people in Albania do their
thing. Ignoring the military attempts that are purely to spread American ideals
would be like ignoring Hitler trying to create the Third Reicht. It really
would be, because the U.S. military continues to holocaust others through instances such
as dumping nuclear waste into native reservations, killing Iranians who have
nothing to do with terrorism, or justifying destroying anyone or anything if it
helps America.
We should have a military that’s capable of
competing with yet is cooperative with other nations, used only in times of
crisis, and that solidifies its goals. Otherwise, we’re probably all doomed.
