Blog # 3 Atlanta Workshop Players

Atlanta Workshop Players is an acting studio that offers classes to people of all ages - adults, teens, and children alike. I myself go there. When signing up, you are offered the choice between regular classes and Pro-Track classes - which, of course, you have to audition for.

Last year, I took the Pro-Track Hollywood Bound class, and this year I have started the Pro-Track Film School Conservatory I. On Tuesdays, the class is based on film production, and on Thursdays it is acting-oriented. There are so many options to choose from, such as On Stage - Theater Production, Comedy/Improv, and On-Camera Acting. These teach you about showbiz. Because, it really is a business! Etiquette when meeting agents and casting directors is important, and can make or break your audition. They constantly have workshops with famous and successful people in the industry.

They organize an overnight camp every summer. It is one week long, hands on, and intense. People signing up for camp can choose their 'major', which is what their camp experience will focus on. Two years ago, I did that camp with Shelby Albright, and we chose the film major. It was a wonderful week, and we learned a lot.
The teachers at AWP are special. For example, on Tuesday nights, my teacher is Amy Dean Kennedy. She is a very successful executive producer, and was even Jerry Bruckheimer's assistant! On Thursday nights, my class is taught by Clay Adams - a successful actor and voice-over artist who starred in several movies.
Atlanta Workshop Players has recently decided to expand their studio and is currently in the process of making a new space, which includes a black-box theater. This will allow for more room and better equipment for the classes to use
