Current Event 3

In this week's current event blog, I'd like to talk about schools. As much as we don't emjoy school, it's still the most inportant thing to us right now, or should be. Our grades are a major factor in going to college and having a career one day. No career means no income and no income means you will either live in your parents basement forever, or live on the streets. In Georgia, schools are ranked by their test scores and in Fulton County, Johns Creek is not one of the "reward" schools, meaning one of the top schools. This year, there were 156 schools in the state that were named reward schools that range from elementary to high schols and only 45 were from our are. Sure that's a pretty big number, but the only school that was named a reward school in Fulton County that I've ever heard of was River Eves Elementary School. This directly sffects us because we are students in Georgia in case you had not picked that up yet and our grades and test scores do have a direct impact on our futures. Sure it sounds like a negative or pessimistic view, but it is aboluteky the truth. Our test scores matter. Are yours up to the state standard?
