Food and Family

As the weather grows colder, the air grows crisper, and the food grows more appealing- we realize that fall is just around the corner. The fall spices start to emerge and we see delicacies such as pumpkin spice lattes, apple pie, and chili-all scrumptious foods designed to satisfy our taste buds.
During the very quick approaching holiday season many of these foods have the power to bring families together. But just how can something as simple as a steamy roast turkey followed by a shower of hot gravy pull such an important task together? Well the kitchen is the heart of the home-a place where everyone gathers in anticipation of a great feast; families all around the world will travel to their relatives for the holiday season. In unison, while tasting the succulent dishes that have been so carefully thought out, your whole family will share a common forth. For generations getting together for these holidays have been traditions. It is our job to continue them with great pride. It's a time when everyone is at peace; there will be no bickering or arguing; nothing to really stir up the chemistry of a family unit.
The aspect of being united together can bring the most out of people. Or is it more the idea of coming as one to enjoy simple traditions and leaving -for that moment- without a care in the world? Both roles play a part in todays society. If the togetherness feeling has worked for past generations then it should work for the ones to come. As these days slowly start to creep up, we should prepare our menus that will once again bring one another to find the true meaning of family.
