I think that the organizations that deal with child abuse are corrupt or at least need to be enhanced. Child abuse stories have included being starved to death, hitting and cutting children scaring them for life, and suicidal attempts because they believe that no one goes through what they are going through and that no one can help. Children that are abused go through so much physically and mentally. "The impact of child abuse and neglect is often discussed in terms of physical, psychological, behavioral, and societal consequences. In reality, however, it is impossible to separate them completely. Physical consequences, such as damage to a child's growing brain, can have psychological implications such as cognitive delays or emotional difficulties. Psychological problems often manifest as high-risk behaviors. Depression and anxiety, for example, may make a person more likely to smoke, abuse alcohol or illicit drugs, or overeat. High-risk behaviors, in turn, can lead to long-term physical health problems such as sexually transmitted diseases, cancer, and obesity." (http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/factsheets/long_term_consequences.cfm#factors) The DFCS (Division of Family and Children's Security) needs to be expanded immensely because there is not enough people to work all of the cases. See the DFCS prioritizes certain cases. For example: a case in a neighborhood where there have been shootings, rape, or drug offiliations would be prioritized versus a case in a neighborhood where there was no history or threat of these things. But children are still getting beaten in other households and these cases are passed over or ignored. People I know like friends and family go through this, some more severely than others, and they agree that the system needs some changes. I believe that the DFCS needs to find a way to see all cases. This may be too hard to achieve but the least that the leaders of this establishment can do is hear more cases and help as many children get through this abuse by bringing the parents to justice. Just read these stories: http://www.imperfectparent.com/topics/2007/11/21/one-of-the-most-horrendous-child-abuse-stories-ever/
