Current Event : Growing Violence in US citizens

On September 29, a man in Dalton hit the female manager of a Steak N Shake in the face. This is rather sad... What has the world come to? Wars, with governments fighting each other, are bad enough, but to have educated, middle-class civilians brawling in public is just downright ridiculous. Violence is not the answer, and there is not a single thing to be found in this incident that the manager may have done to have warranted her a slap in the face. In fact, nothing would have justified this act of anger.
Everyone has heard the saying communication is the key. There is a reason that it is so widely known and used - it is correct. There is absolutely no reason to have to resort to attack or raging; much more can be accomplished by simply talking the problem out. Nothing good has ever come of losing temper control, and there is no reason that pattern should change now.

The people that are shown in the picture below are all human beings, and are all eating at the same place. This does not immediately associate them with the suspect of the Dalton Steak N Shake, but one can not help but wonder if some of them would react in a similar fashion in the circumstances of disagreement. The natural human instinct, after all, is survival of the fittest; the suspect was not able to control his gut reaction and decided he needed to prove that he had to get his way... or not at all.

Not that long ago, respect for women was fairly low - and then it slowly started increasing. The world went from treating women like inferior beings to appreciating and treating them fairly. Of course, there are still exceptions of that today, but not in America. At least, it does not seem that way. However, this man has proved that some men still believe themselves to be above the others, and see no problem in hitting women to get their point across. He seems to have taken a step backwards in time and progress, instead of the traditional and rewarding forward motion. In the minds of many, the suspect has sunk in social esteem, and has degraded mankind with his act. He has resorted to brutality, and this makes him seem backwards, uneducated, and unfit to be in today's society.

The man left the parking lot driving in reverse in order to keep his license plate a secret from cameras. Therefore, he knew what he had done was wrong and realized that if he was caught he would be punished; so he decided to escape from justice. Wether the incident has happened in other places around the world or not is irrelevant - all that matters is the moral consequences of this act, and the repercussions in society that follow. We are united - the United States of America. This landmass is called that for a reason, and this man's behavior does not portray the rightful and desired image of our country. In fact, it portrays the total opposite.
